Location:

Dayton, OH

Start Date:

2020

The Problem:

The Ohio Home Care Waiver program from the Ohio Department of Medicaid requires the client to facilitate the connection between their Medicaid Members and Homecare Providers. The client used a third-party tool to accomplish this: recording the Members’ Needs, accepting the Providers’ Bids, and tracking project Completion and Satisfaction. This third-party tool was expensive and did not match the process the client uses to ensure the entire process provides the best, most effective Service for the Member.

Solution:

Ohio’s largest healthcare plan provider engaged Smart Data to assist in creating their own tool to replace their third-party Homecare facilitation tool. Smart Data brought a team of developers, two Quality Assurance professionals, and a Scrum Master to bear on the project. Paired with a Developer, a Product Owner, and several Subject Matter Experts from the client – the Smart Data team worked to understand the business requirements in detail, ensure compliance with existing client Software Development standards, and launch the new application on schedule and within budget.

Key Issues/Challenges:

  • Ohio’s largest healthcare plan provider contacted Smart Data less than 4 months from the required go-live date, with no work started and no contract negotiated.
  • Contractual deadlines meant there was no option to move/delay the go-live date
  • Time was the biggest roadblock of development, Onshore dedicated team helped speed up communications and allowed the team to finish the project in a short time frame.

The Results:

Working together as one team, Smart Data and the clien’st staff launched a stable application on schedule and within budget. In addition:
